Feb 2016

Feb came and went in a flash.  Josh had to go run selection in Nevada so it was just the boys and I for most of the month.  The unit had a mother son activity where they had role player knights come in and spar. They also had all the stuff out and the kids could play with it.  They fed us really good and we all had a lot of fun.

We also went on our first marriage retreat solo. Since Josh and Scott were gone Missy and I decided to take the kids. It was at the homestead in Va and it was super nice. I mean why would we not go to a fancy hotel where they feed us and provide childcare?!

They even had an outdoor heated pool so of course our crazy kids had to go swimming. It was freezing but they had a ball.

I thought it was pretty funny because on one side of the patio the kids were swimming and on the other side they turned the kiddie pool into an ice skating rink :)
It was a really good weekend. Missy and I went to dinner without the kids and it was so nice to have adult conversation with a good friend!

Jan 2016

The year came in really good. Josh was home and the weather was still so nice. I took this picture on Jan 3. Yep the bulbs that I planted in the fall were starting to come up!
Then......Jan 22 it stared snowing and didn't stop for three days. So of course when I saw the first snowflake I stated making cinnamon rolls!

It was the blizzard of 2016. The biggest snow in this area in a long time.  Jack had a week off of school.

The government even shut down for a few days so all of our neighbors were home. We all met at the marina hill and had a blast! Josh built a taller hill at the top and made a track where the kids could start higher and zigzag down. Half way down the hill he put another ramp and it sent the kids flying!

It was a great day filled with fun and laughter! We were out all morning. Kaleb was so funny. He went up and down and up and down. He went way more than any of the other kids. He was having a ball. So much so that we had to take a break so he could go nap.

But after everyone warmed up we went back out and this time The guy that lives about the marina said we could start the track at the top of his yard so the men got to work!
Once they finished with that Josh went and pulled out the snowboard! He came down the yard, hit the ramp where he was sending the kids down then on down the hill.

We enjoyed the whole day. Just another thing to make us realize how lucky we are to live in a neighborhood with great neighbors who are becoming great friends!
