On the road again! Dec 3rd, we packed up and headed home. 3 days of nonstop driving, but it was so good to get there!
The first day I was sitting in the back with Kaleb, and I got a text from Carrie saying that while we were on our date the night before they were playing a game at the house with all the cousins where they show you a phrase with blanks and you have to fill in what you think is the best. She said she didn't want to get him in trouble, but she was cracking up cause one of Kaleb's answers had sex in it. I started asking about the game and we were laughing, and he told me the phrase We were having _______ on a _______ then died. He put sex in the first blank. I said, wait, there were two answers and he said yes. I asked what he put in the second blank, and he looked at me as serious as could be and said Tiger. I died laughing!!!
Someone's in the Christmas Spirit!
You remember that ski resort, Seven Springs, we went to in February? Ken loved it so much he bought a cabin there this fall! It's a beautiful house! the basement is huge and has a really big bedroom that has a king size bed and Ken just bought adult size bunkbeds! I had never heard of these, but they are queen size bunk beds and have a queen that pulls out from the bottom so 6 people can sleep on them!
Dec 11th was opening weekend on the slopes, so we all went up for our first weekend of skiing! We shared the big bedroom in the basement with the Beauregard's. It was weird at first having all 8 of us in one room but it worked out. It was still pretty warm, so the slopes had manmade snow on them, but we had a great weekend!!
Milly is so funny; she bosses Barrett around and he listens to her. LOL In this picture she had taken both his toys and he's just sitting there.
There isn't snow on the ski in ski out trails yet, so we all loaded in the van and Josh drove us to the slopes.
Shelby brought a puzzle, and I worked it all weekend. I hadn't worked on a puzzle in a very long time and really enjoyed it! I did finish it before we left, I just didn't take a picture.
Baking cookies for the kids to decorate next weekend at the cabin.
We are still reading out of the Christmas book my mom gave Jack as a baby
Wow, what a difference a week can make! Last week we were skiing in short sleeves and this weekend we show up and there's tons of snow!
The ski in ski out trail has snow so now we can get ready at the house and ski right off the back porch.
A few months ago, Josh saw this sweater come up on the Fort Belvoir $1 auction site. Somone had already bid $1 so he had me wait until it was about to end and bid $2. We won!! He went and picked it up because he said he needs a sweater for the ski chalet. LOL
We skied all weekend, and it was a blast! I'm feeling a lot more confident and am getting faster! I'm hoping to be able to ski some blue slopes by the end of the season. The Beauregard's didn't come this weekend because Steph was sick. Good thing Ken owns this place so we can have a lot more fun weekends with them!
We missed Sophie and Emily, but Jack, Alexa, Kaleb, and Kenny had fun decorating the cookies we made.
The cabin came with this moose on the wall, so the kids named him Mooselheimer and wanted to decorate him with Christmas lights :)

Sunday, I woke up and was so tired, so I stayed in after lunch and took a nap. It was my night to cook dinner, so I made spaghetti and salad. Everything was normal until I sat down to eat. I took my first bite and COULDN'T TASTE IT! I didn't say anything to anyone. I pulled Josh downstairs and told him, and he didn't think it was a big deal. The next day I was drained. We loaded up and came home and I went to urgent care and sure enough I tested positive for Covid! I drove home and told Josh and he was in denial and told me those fast tests don't work, so he drove me to the hospital on Post and I took the other test. They called me the next day confirming that it was positive. I felt so bad because we had spent the weekend with the Meckley's, and we were 6 days from Christmas! They all got tested and they were negative, and they never did get sick. Fortunately, I didn't have a bad case. I didn't have a fever or any of the breathing problems, I was just soooo tired!! I had been planning on making the boys some shirts for Christmas from a video game they had been playing so I had to get that done.
Josh had to walk 50 miles for work, dumb I know, so the first day I had to make myself get in the craft room and finish the shirts. I barely remember doing it, but they came out good and the boys loved them.
I quarantined in my bedroom as much as I could but we still had to make treats for Santa, so I masked up and helped the boys.
Sant's treats are out!
Santa came!!
Merry Christmas!!
Jack has had the Lego roller coaster on his list for 4 years, so I told Josh that we were going to get it for him this year. He was so excited!! The best part was when he was opening it Kaleb was opening his new sheets and said "I got sheets" in an excited voice LOL When I put the video on Facebook of Jack opening the rollercoaster everyone was commenting on Kaleb and his sheets. LOL
Needless to say, Christmas was low key. The boys loved all their gifts, and I came out to watch them open them then I went back to my room.
While we were in Idaho, I went to dessert books and saw this picture of Moroni and loved it. Josh ordered it and surprised me with it!
The boys had lots of Legos to build so they didn't mind the low key day.
I wasn't going to cook dinner, but it was Christmas! I'm glad I did because while I was cooking, I started smelling the ham cook! When we sat down and ate, I could taste it! I had heard of people taking a long time to get their smell and taste back or it coming back gradually, but mine left and came back all at once.
Josh's work made him take a test since I had it and it came back positive so our two-week quarantine restarted 9 days after my test. I have to admit that the boys have been so good. They haven't argued that much and have played great with each other. I don't know if it's because they know they can't go anywhere so they better get along or what, but I was enjoying it!
New Year's Eve was quiet. We watched a few movies and had sparkling grape juice at midnight. I think everyone is ready to say goodbye to 2020!
