And The Journey Begins

Sept 11 2011 we moved from Stuttgart Germany to Colorado Springs Co. We left our hotel 8:30 am and didn't get to CO until 4:30 am (germany time) so that was 20 hrs of travel time. I really didn't know what to expect since we were traveling with a 22 month old and a 4 month old but everything was great except for us being sabotaged LOL not on purpose though. The day before we went to our friends house and she makes these energy bars made of nothing but protein and fiber and she gave Jack one. First thing Sunday morning Jack pooped really good so i thought great I won't have to change a dirty on the plane, boy was I wrong, 5 min into our flight Jack had a blowout and, being the great mom that I am, I didn't have a change of clothes for him because he never has accidents so he had to sit 9 1/2 hrs and go through the Atlanta airport in a diaper and his car seat stunk so bad! other than that the flight went really well. I was so proud of the boys. Kaleb slept a lot of the 10 hr flight but Jack only took about a 2 and a half hr nap which is normal for him. I guess he has a high tolerance to benadryl because I gave it to him before take off and he didn't take his nap for another 5 hrs. At least it didn't make him hyper. We arrived in Atlanta on time so that was nice. We got our luggage and went through customs quickly so I was thinking this is going to be a breeze. The last stop in customs is just showing your passport so no problem there right? WRONG! They took us to the homeland security office and while we are standing there waiting to be called Josh notices we are the only Americans in this office so we weren't sure what was going on. They finally called him up and asked him where he was born. He told them ID and then they told him that when they scanned his passport it said he was born in Afghanistan LOL Thankfully we had a 3 hr layover so it didnt make us late at all.

waiting to check our luggage. Yes Jack is on a leash LOL

This is the best invention ever! It's a little strap that cost $8 and it hooks the car seat to the carry on. Jack just sat back and relaxed as we rushed to our planes.

Daddy's job was really hard thanks to the Ipad haha

Mommy and her sweet baby

Kaleb got a little restless at the end of the flight so we made him a play area under Jack's feet.

Jack had so much fun watching the planes take off and land.

the flight from Atlanta to Colorado Springs was super easy :)

After 18 hrs of traveling the boys were still happy. I love my boys!!

This is to funny not to be put on the blog. The last day we were in our apartment in Holzgerlingen Jack brought me an empty bread bag and I was busy so I didn't take it from him I just said "Jack that is trash" and didn't think anything else about it. A few hrs later Josh and I were going into the spare bathroom to make sure everything was ready for inspection and this is what we found. I guess when the whole house is empty this would be the trash :)

Jack and Kaleb started coughing over the weekend so I decided to take them in yesterday and I'm so glad I did cause they gave me some benadryl for Jack to help keep his ears clear for take off (wink, wink) but Kaleb actually has an ear infection and a touch of bronchitis so they started him on Amoxicillin so hopefully he will get to feeling better soon. I hate when they are sick because they always look so sad in the eyes :(

We also went to Stephanie and Luke Overfelt's house (some friends from church) for dinner and their baby is 6mo so he is to big for their swing so Luke brought it upstairs and Kaleb was so happy to be in the swing again. He just played and fell asleep and woke up and played and back to sleep haha So Steph let us bring it back to the hotel which was a life saver last night because he hasn't been sleeping good since he got sick. Last night was so much better.

He is so much happier today :)

Hotel Life

So far so good. The hotel is really nice and we have a mini kitchen so at least I can cook some meals because eating out all the time really sucks!

The boys are doing so good and most importantly they are sleeping Great!

Jack is definitely a boy

While the boys were playing on the bed Kaleb grabbed Jack and Jack just kinda looked at me like are you going to do something mom??? haha I think Kaleb won this round.

This was the night after the movers took Jack's bed. It took him a while to go to sleep and Josh had to lay with him for a while but he slept in there all night. He is such a Trooper :)

Bittersweet

Today we moved out of our apartment in Holzgerlingen into the Hotel on base. I'm so excited that in 10 days we will be back in America but it was sad moving out of our first real home. Josh keeps saying our first home was in NC but I keep reminding him we only lived there together a little over a month. Our family grew in our little apartment over here and I'm going to miss it. I thought I was going to cry today when Jack was sitting in the window watching the tractors drive by cause he had no idea it would be the last time. I got to thinking about last summer when he first started rolling and how he would roll over to the window and look out. You would think it would get old but it was just as cute today as it was then. On the other hand I can't wait to start the hunt for our new home and I hope it will be just as great as this one.

It was a rough day on the boys as well. I know they don't understand that we are moving but they definitely know something is different. Kaleb has cried for 3 days and Jack just whines over everything so I was really dreading bedtime tonight but as usual they both surprised me. We have two cribs in our room so we put Jack in one in the living room, cause the internet hookup is in our room, and he only cried for a minute and a half then he went to sleep. We have the other crib in our room so after feeding Kaleb we said prayers and I laid him down and he just laid in the crib and waved his hands and rolled and played then fell asleep without me having to put his binky in. I really couldn't believe this especially since we had the TV on and we were talking. I love my boys!

Kaleb is 4 months!

We had Kaleb's 4 month well baby visit today and everything looks great! He is doing everything a 4 month old should be doing. He weighed 13 pounds 4 oz (36%) Height 25.2 inches (77%) Head Circumference 42cm (57%) and yes with the 4 month visit comes shots :( He did much better with the actual injections today than at his 2 mo. He barely even cried today. He is doing good so far just a little grumpy.

Good think he has an awesome big brother to take care of him :)

Yes he even stands there and rocks him. I really don't know where Jack gets his patients from.

The other day we brought the bumbo chair up so Kaleb could sit up and watch us pack. He is such a nosy little boy haha

I think it's funny that Jack hated this chair as a baby and wouldn't sit in it but guess who loves it now???? :-)

A day at the Pool

We have started packing up the house for the move and it is soooo hot so we decided to take a break and walk to pool in our village. I can't believe we have lived here 3 yrs and this is the first time we have went. We had so much fun and the water was perfect! The boys had so much fun. Kaleb definitely loves the water.

Relaxing after the swim :)

Josh had 24 hr duty yesterday so it was my first day as a mom with two by myself! I'm proud to report we made it!!! LOL Thank goodness I had my big helper though :)
